Now you can enjoy that same sunny radiance you love during the day, all night long! Although it’s not quite the same brightness, this fresh-from-the-jar light is a great energy efficient way to softly light your home or garden.
Inside this traditional Mason jar lies a high tech solar cell, rechargeable battery and low energy LED lamps. During the day, place the jar in a sunlit area. The solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. That energy is then used at night to power the three LED lamps inside the jar. At night, the warm-colored LED lights will cast off a subtle, natural glow and will look like you have captured a tiny sun in the jar. The light sensor inside automatically activates the lights when it gets dark or lights are turned out.
I know, to some it might seem a bit tedious & messy. Like you don’t have enough to do! But really, once you mix up the solution, the hard part is done! By taking little steps along the way as ourare growing, we can add to their without adding to the burden on the environment.
You’ll need the following:
- 12 7″x7 ” squares of cotton flannel fabric (spare receiving blankets work great!)
- 7 drops of lavender essential oil (not fragrance oil!)
- 1/2 cup rosewater & glycerin
- 1 cup of aloe vera gel
- 3 tablespoons castor oil
- a “shoe box” sized plastic container with tightly securing lid
In a bowl, place aloe vera gel. Add to this the lavender oil and rosewater & glycerin. Mix well with a wooden spoon. When well mixed, add castor oil, and mix again. If the solution is still “thick”, add 1 tablespoon of water at a time until you have a liquid solution that can be poured.
Pour thesolution over the cloth wipes in the plastic container, and place the lid. The solution will make its way through the layers of cloth within a few hours and be ready for use.
Alternative: Instead of combining the solution over the cloth wipes, you can store each separately. Place thesolution in a 4-8 oz. bottle and when ready to use, mix 1/4 cup wash with 1/4 cup warm water to cleanse using the cloth wipes.
